Happy New Year !!!!

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. I sincerely hope it is full of wonder and joy for you all. Enjoy your loved ones and the time you have together. Think of those that can't be with you with love and peace.
Corey and I will be spending it with family and friends over a couple of days. We always enjoy getting together with our family. I am sure there will be pleanty of food, laughs, and love.
As the new year approaches, Corey and I look forward to new oppertunites, challenges, adventures, and beginings.
He is now competeing in 3 state events on the swim team, and is less than 1 second from qualifying for 3 more. I have a feeling I will be adding to the list of events.
The play I am working on opens Jan 18th. Being an Assistant Director is very informative, and I am really proud of this production. I will be auditioning for a play that opens some time in April I think. But if I do not get a role, I will be the stage manager.
Corey and I are planning a big trip for the summer. It will be nice to have a vacation together. At this point it is just he and I on a once in a lifetime adventure. More to come later...
Anyway...
We send you all our love and lots of hugs for the holiday and the year to come!!!

Lost Baby

So last night I was at the most crowded and annoying, but cheap grocery store in town. Winco. I was there with a couple of friends, doing a group shopping trip. We were in line behind a man with a small boy in the shopping cart. Suddenly things got very weird.
The man became frantic. He yelled to another small child that was a few people behind us, wandering around looking at items on the shelf. He told her something then went jogging down the main isle away from his kids. The toddler (under two) was left sitting alone in the cart in front of me. I became worried and stood near him to make sure didn't fall out. The little girl (around 4) came to his side and yelled for yet a third child to come stand next to her. This child was around 2. The 4 year old said out loud to no one in particular, "Did she really get stolen?" Just then the father goes running by the kids, cart, check out stand and out the front door. The children are left alone. My friend and I are trying to understand what is going on. It appears that a 4th child is missing.
Then out of no where a woman with a baby in the cart comes up to the abandoned kids. The man comes running back in and bends over in either exhaustion or relief. The woman explains that she turned from the cart to get some things. She stated that she walked away for a moment and when she came back the cart with the small baby was gone. But that she began to search and found the cart with the baby in it around the corner. She became very emotional and cried as they unloaded their cart at the check stand. The man was kissing the baby's head.
So, the good news is the baby was fine. More good news is that nothing happened to the OTHER 3 children while mom and dad ran around like chickens.
But I have to say that I was disgusted with the whole situation. From what I gathered, no one moved the cart. She left it and forgot where. She got so wrapped up in other things, she lost track of her baby. Then they completely abandon the other children.
NOW, don't get me wrong, I understand the panic and the need to start looking. I, too, would be slightly frantic. However, they did not alert anyone of the situation, nor did they solicit any help. We figured out the happenings after the fact.
I am angry that a parent would leave any child unattended. Especially in such a hectic and busy place as Winco. I also hate it when people leave children sitting in shopping carts. I have seen children fall out of them and tip them over. It is not pretty. Bad things happen. Injuries are large and can be disfiguring.
I wish people valued their children more. I wish that it did not take a scare like that to make them stop and think. When you chose to have a child, you have made the commitment to think ahead, to protect, to support, to cherish, to love. NOTHING is more important than our children. NOTHING. Especially a 2 for 1 special on bulk packs of frozen corn dogs!!!!!
