Busy Time

Yep, it is that time of year again!!!
Corey is in training for the short course season. Oct - February is his busiest and toughest season in swimming. He has decided that he wants to go to sectionals, which is the level above state. So he is really stepping up his already tough work outs. He is currently "reviewing" his diet (his words) and is setting goals.
School is going great for him. He is running for class president, and out of 12 kids, they reduced the list to 3 via vote. Corey is one of the three. His campaign choice is to run with out posters, flyer's, or candy. He told the kids that if they vote for him it is because they know him and know that he is an honest, loyal, friendly person who gets good grades and cares what happens to each person. (could our presidential candidates learn a lesson here or what?) He is also a 5th grade mentor to a 1st grader. He is on the Safety Patrol and is joining the morning reading club. He has already received awards at the first assembly. He is joining the chess club and decided to play the bass. He is also thinking about an after school before swim karate program, but ... we'll see.
I am still loving my job, and have taken on extra duties as my boss has left the agency and his replacement took a while to select. I am told that I am exceeding all expectations and can honestly say I have found where I want to stay. The job is intense and demanding and I love every minute of it!
I am still on the swim board, and dealing with some big issues. I also run hospitality for the swim club and will be doing a great deal of cooking and such through the short course season. Serving coaches and officials two meals a day pool side while trying to be mom watching a meet can be challenging. Long hours and lots of work.
I am the assistant director for the next play at VLT. It is going to be a great one. Strong cast, amazing director, and lots of challenges. I will be working on another production later in the spring as well.
Denise is finally getting her house. The ground breaking ceremony is in two weeks, then we start construction. It is a habitat for humanity house, so we will be building it ourselves. I actually love doing that kind of work, and am glad to be putting my blood and sweat into Denise's house. I should be able to milk a couple of home cooked meals out of it once it is done!!!
My brother Justin and his wife are expecting another baby, and there is a lot of love in that statement.
So from now until March I should resemble the farm chicken with no head you can watch on u-tube.
