So this is 30

Well, no one listened to me ... and I guess I am thankful. (see previous blog to understand.)

My day started at 4:45 am with a phone call from John. He wanted to be the first to wish me a happy birthday. And apperently the first to check my agility and the strength of my heart as he sent me flying out of bed and running through the house to find my cell phone for what I assumed was an emergent call. Instead, I was told that I should be up and going at this time as I am now older and not moving as fast as I used to. Nice. He did sing me a little ditty that always makes me smile, and bid me a happy day.
It was followed by calls from friends. Friends like Angie who were sweet and gentle. Friends like Denise who rocked me with "You say it's your birthday ..." Friends like Mitchell who carried on about how glad he was that he's not 30 yet. And my mom singing my Happy Birthday song.
It carried on to work, where my friends/coworkers Kelley and Nita plastered signs all around the 2 floor about me turning 30. Covered my office with confetti. Taped my drawers shut, dismantled my phone, and left a bed wetting pad on my chair for me. We do work in a Urology office after all... and we have seen what age does to a bladder. (that was actually the work of my boss, Paula.)
I then got lovely gifts from people. (thank you Denise, Kelley, Nita, Michelle, Jan, Carmen, KJ, Kim, and my secret pal.) And all the Mocha a girl could want. People came by to wish me happy birthday, and one of the Dr.'s even sang the birthday song to me. (Dr. B)
Then IT happened. I was in my little office when a singing telegram arrived. Balloons, Tux, and all. I wanted to run and hide, but my only exit was blocked. So several people gathered round to watch me squirm while this lovely lady sang a song written all about me. It talked about my love for my son, dance, drama, Al Pacino, shoes, purses, and so on. My dad, with the help of my mom had put this all together. Gotta say, I was so flustered I nearly passed out from heat stroke. The room immediatly grew to 115 degrees. While several staff, including boss, and doctors, looked on, I nearly died of embarrassment, which is exactly the reaction my dear sweet daddy wanted.
The celebration continued at The Outback with my mom (dad has the flu), grandma and grandpa, Uncle Randy and Aunt Linda, and my sweet Corey , to whom I gave life, who sat chanting "You're 30, you're 30, 30, 30,30!!!!"(Thank you all for the gifts as well!) It was then followed by a wonderful message from my Godson singing You Are My Sunshine, and happy birthday. A loving call from Jan (and Whitey, thank you for the gift), a quick and merciful message from my brother Joe, and someone from Allied, but he didn't wish me a happy birthday, I guess they didn't know.
I then got a funny gift from Judy, and wonderful gifts from my son and parents. (Thank you.)
It has finshed with a wonderful blog about me by my best friend Nicole. ( www.razzlefrazzle.com)
Anyway ... all that to say, I am now 30 and it isn't so bad. I still have a wonderful son, a loving family, smart ass but kind friends, a job I like, and the face of a 23 year old! ( Now if could just get that @%$#@'s body!)
Thanks everyone ...
Now ... seriously ... shut the hell up about it!
